Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Days ahead of the Super Tuesday presidential primaries, former South Carolina governor and Republican candidate Nikki Haley said in an interview Sunday she will continue in the race for the GOP nomination as long as she remains competitive. "As long as we are competitive, as long as we are showing that there is a place for us, I'm going to continue to fight," Haley said. After primary losses in Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire, Haley trails Trump in delegates with just 27 to his 247 so far. Google will begin deleting inactive Gmail accounts as soon as Friday under a new security policy. If you have a Google account that you haven't used in a while, here's what to know to make sure your information isn't affected. In May, the tech giant announced that it will delete Google accounts that haven't been used in the last two years, along with emails, photos and other data stored in the account. To make an old account active, all you have to do is sign into it. Google said the new policy is an effort to protect user security, because inactive accounts are more likely to be compromised.

Google's traffic navigation app Waze will now warn you when you are driving on a road with a history of crashes, the company announced Tuesday. The feature will alert drivers that they are approaching an accident-prone area before they reach that section of the route. However, Waze will limit the number of alerts drivers see on roads they more regularly drive on, a limitation Google said is intended to minimize distractions for drivers. The alerts were created with artificial intelligence that analyzed the characteristics of roads, such as typical traffic levels, elevation and whether the route is a road or highway, a spokesperson said in a statement. Crash history alerts are also based on reports from the Waze community, which provide historical crash data, the spokesperson said.

The price of bitcoin could rise to $150,000 by 2025, Bernstein said Tuesday in a note citing optimism about a bitcoin exchange-traded fund. Bernstein analyst Gautam Chhugani said the firm expects the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to approve a bitcoin ETF by the first quarter of 2024. The only similar product is Grayscale's Bitcoin Trust , or GBTC, which presently holds around 3% of outstanding bitcoin, according to the note. Last week, the price of bitcoin reached $35,000, its highest level since May 2022. However, the court ruling does not guarantee the SEC will approve a bitcoin ETF.

Apple on Tuesday announced a new $79 Apple Pencil with a hidden USB-C charging port that will launch in November. Prior models required users to charge by plugging the pencil into the iPad charging port. It's the cheapest Apple Pencil to date and works with all USB-C iPads, though it lacks some of the features of the more expensive Apple Pencils. It can attach magnetically to the sides of USB-C iPads, for example, but doesn't charge wirelessly like the $129 second-generation Apple Pencil. It also lacks pressure sensitivity, which is available in the older $99 Apple Pencil, and means it may be better for people who just need to take notes instead of digital artists.

UPS to hire 100,000 holiday workers with Teamsters pay bump
  + stars: | 2023-09-26 | by ( Melina Khan | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +1 min
UPS plans to hire more than 100,000 seasonal workers again this year to support the holiday shipping rush, the company announced Tuesday in a press release. As a result of a contract agreement with the Teamsters union that was ratified in August, seasonal workers' pay will start between $21 and $23 per hour, depending on the position. The Teamsters deal with UPS comes as workers from pilots to aerospace manufacturing employees have pushed for and won higher pay. Nearly 80% of the company's seasonal positions do not require an interview, UPS said in the release. The carrier hired the same number of seasonal workers in 2022.
